Historical Origin of Meditation

In Hinduism, meditation, spiritual life, and religious practice are, first and foremost, it is noted in It. On each sees it as a way to get rid of ignorance, and to learn from, and the one with the Absolute.

Around the 5th-6th century, In Chinese Taoists, and Buddhists in India have evolved to other forms of thinking. However, early Buddhism and the impact of Vedanta in the 4th-century, the exact origin of Buddhist meditation is a matter of debate among researchers.
The early evidence on a lot of levels and stages of meditation practiced by the Buddha in India can be found in the sutras of the Canon the Fall, which dates back to the 1st-century BCE.

Pali Canon shows a fundamental part of the formula for the salvation of men through adherence to the rules of morality, contemplative concentration, and knowledge of it, then, that the place of meditation, which is a step along the path to salvation.

Vimalakirti Sutra
In the West, by 20 BCE, Philo of Alexandria, wrote about some form of "Spiritual Exercises," including attention (prosocial), and concentration. Similarly, in the third century, Plotinus developed meditative techniques, which, however, is to attract followers, including the Christian meditators. Saint Augustine has been experimenting with the Point of the techniques of Philo of Alexandria and Plotinus but failed to attain the state of ecstasy.
